This pregnancy has seen me doing some crazy things. At about 8 weeks I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors, walls and skirting boards. I’m currently painting my kids cubby house, have Marie Kondo’d all the wardrobe and cleaned out every cupboard in the house.
I am not all that sure but the feeling afterwards is great. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I once had no control at a similar time in my life once, and this is my way of keeping it now. To have a clean house and everything in order was what I was striving for as it just so happened to make me happy.
As the weeks past I’d walk past the bub’s room, but the spark to get in there and design a room for my little man just wasn’t happening. When Romy from Homeroom Studio reached out to me, I was almost shocked to be honest as I honestly believed she was sent to me for a reason. I met this stranger, but she had such a beautiful energy I just knew I was in good hands.
The reason I was avoiding that room, was because I was scared. When I am overwhelmed I tend to just avoid and that’s exactly what I was doing.
I informed Romy I didn’t know or have a vision of what I wanted it to look like but it didn’t worry me too much as I had such a nice connection to my little man in my belly and at the time that was my main concern after having dealt with PND not long after Arlo was born.
When I say it didn’t worry me, I had seen all Romy’s great work on her page that it was clear I was going to love it. Well, I was wrong. When I seen the room for the first time I BLOODY loved it.
I can’t thank her enough for what she has done for my family and I, taking such a stress off our shoulders and just allowing us to really enjoy these last few weeks before the real chaos begins.
Here’s a little bit about the room, and some words from Romy the angel herself x
OH, BABY: ABBY GILMORE’S NURSERY ROOM REVEAL
Designing a nursery for an expecting family is truly a gift. A much anticipated journey of this little human…and this new found space is where many memories of late night feeds, resettling techniques, tears, smiles and uncontrollable laughter will fill these 4 walls!
What makes it even more special, is designing it for a family that is so open, raw, real and warm. Young in age, but wise beyond her years, I have had the absolute pleasure of designing the nursery for her little baby boy (to be!). After 2 little princesses, Abby and Leigh are excited to welcome this little Man into their lives!
When I came to meet Abby for the first time, we sat in the empty nursery on the floor talking about life, personal growth and passion. She then showed me the remarkable scans of her foetus.
Already so loved, I was excited to talk all things wallpaper and colour. However, Abby had other plans… a SURPRISE room reveal!! Now this was completely new territory for me! To be honest, I have become accustomed to meeting clients that are prepared with months’ worth of Pinterest inspiration and product ‘must haves’ that provides me with a clear design path. Having countless options with Abby encouraged me to sit with myself, watch her daily posts to learn more about her and her beautiful family until I was ready.
Instantly drawn to the tones in the forest wallpaper by Milton and King was the foundation for this space. Earthy yet vibrant tones, different textural layers creating an overall feeling of warmth and heart, paired back with symbolic prints symbolising hope and new beginnings. It felt right, and complete.
So whilst Abby wasn’t physically a part of the product decision making process, her emotional investment was equally, if not more, powerful.
To Abby, Leigh, Milla & Arlo. Thank you for letting me into your home, your hearts and allowing me to create this magical nursery xx
